With the uncertainty around energy costs impacting business costs both directly and indirectly it is imperative that businesses manage this cost as tightly as possible. For large users this is especially challenging as the capital cost of decarbonising your energy supply can be significant.
In addition to challenges in the cost of energy, legacy systems like boilers etc stifle the value of assets like owner operated buildings on a companies’ balance sheet. Conversely some estimates suggest that a significant energy upgrade can increase the value of a building by as much as 10%.
The SEAI has a grant program in place for tailored support for larger programs, helping companies reduce their energy bills and protect/enhance the value of their building portfolio.
The EXEED program (Excellence in Energy Efficient Design) is available to larger energy users undertaking significant decarbonisation projects.
Eligible projects include;
- Brand new and or upgraded manufacturing processes
- Major renovation and major energy upgrades of existing building
- New buildings such as offices and hotels
For owner operators there are several wins here…
- Overall reduction in energy cost and improve cash flows
- Reduced dependency on energy leading to better energy security
- Protected / enhanced capital value of your property portfolio
- Meet your CSRD obligations
Eligible applicants can receive up to 40% of the project cost up to a limit of €3,000,000.
